Founded in 2016 in Kalamazoo, Michigan

ROC works within universities to leverage resources for individuals that have experience with forced displacement. ROC facilitates educational programming, and direct support efforts to provide resettling and displaced individuals with educational assistance.

We make education more equitable while working within universities and organizational partnerships to advocate for a global society where refugee camps are not considered long-term solutions.

Prioritizing Education

About Forced Displacement

UNHCR estimates ~1% of forced-displacement individuals are able to resettle. Education is a widespread issue for these individuals and communities experiencing this as children and adults fall behind on schooling. With only 5% of displaced individuals having access to attend tertiary education, we strive to create better futures through our degree & tutoring programs.
Global Classroom Degree Program

ROC created this program that allows forced migrants living in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, Africa to enroll in online courses at Central Michigan University. Enrolled students are able to earn an associates degree equivalent with 100% of tuition fees waived.
Tutoring Program

ROC offers our After School Tutoring Program and Human Champions Tutoring (HCT). All of these provide tutoring assistance for resettled youth in communities surrounding Kalamazoo, MI.
Educational Workshops

While experiencing life in encampments or traveling across borders, educational access is slim to none. Resettled enrolled students are able to build their skills to build a brighter future through our educational resources that are linked with our partnered organizations.
